Trekking Route

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek starts from Kathmandu as you take a scenic early morning flight or bus drive along the Prithvi Highway to arrive at Pokhara. From Pokhara, you will take a short drive to Nayapul from where you will start your trek to Ghandruk. The trek will take you to the settlement of Chomrong and reach Sinuwa after a few hours.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek 7 Days

Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then to Nayapul, Trek from Nayapul to Ghandruk

Drive duration: 1.5 hours (from Pokhara)

Trek duration: 1 hour

We start our trekking journey with a scenic early morning flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara or a scenic drive on the winding roads of Prithvi Highway. The 6-7 hours drive later you will arrive at Pokhara from where you can take another short drive to Nayapul.

After arriving at Nayapul, you will start your trekking journey to the beautiful Gurung village of Ghandruk. The short one hour trek to Ghandruk passes through blue misty forests with rhododendron trees. We will stay overnight at a local homestay in Ghandruk village.

Day 02: Trek from Ghandruk to Sinuwa via Chhomrong

Maximum altitude: Sinuwa (2340 m)

Trek duration: 5-6 hours

After breakfast in a homestay at Ghandruk, we started our trekking journey. We continue our trek passing through lush alpine forests of the region to arrive at Chhomrong Village. Chhomrong is a cultural settlement of the Gurung ethnic community and you can observe their tradition and lifestyle.

You can explore the village and blend in with villagers to learn more about their heritage. Also, we will then continue our trek to Sinuwa, passing through various forested trails on rugged landscapes. We will spend the night at a teahouse in Sinuwa.

Day 03: Trek from Sinuwa to Deurali

Maximum altitude: Deurali (3200 m)

Trek duration: 6-7 hours

We will have an early morning breakfast, and start our trek passing through Bamboo, Himalaya, Dovan to arrive at Deurali. Besides, we can observe beautiful snow-capped mountains, green meadows, and terraced farmed hills along our journey.

Moreover, we will then have our lunch at Bamboo and then continue our trek for 6 to 7 hours to Deurali. The trek takes you through the diverse region where you can spot the rare, and endangered wildlife of the region. We then spent the night at a teahouse in Deurali.

Day 04: Trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp via Machhapuchhre Base Camp

Dovan/Himalaya to Machhapurchhe Base Camp or Annapurna Base Camp (Sanctuary)

Trek duration: 5-6 hours

After having breakfast, we start trekking to Annapurna Base Camp, which is our ultimate destination of the trek. It will take around 5 to 6 hours to reach ABC from Deurali. In addition, we can observe incredible views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Annapurna III, Glacier Dom, Himchuli, Gangapurna, Gandharva Chuli, and others.

You will also pass through Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC) through rugged landscapes. After arriving at ABC, we can explore the region and take incredible pictures. You will stay overnight overlooking the night sky in Base Camp.

Day 05: Trek from Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo

Maximum altitude: ABC (4130 m)

Trek duration: 5-6 hours

We will observe majestic views of the sunrise over the snow-capped mountains including Annapurna I, Barahi Shikhar, Gandharvachuli, Tent Peak, Annapurna South, and Himchuli.

We will have our breakfast, start our return trek passing through the Machhapuchhre Base Camp, Himalayan, Deurali, Dovan, and reach Bamboo. After a trek of around 5-6 hours, we will arrive at our destination of Bamboo and spend the night at a teahouse.

Day 06: Trek from Bamboo to Kyumi

Maximum altitude: Bamboo (2340m)

Trek duration: 5-6 hours

After having breakfast, we will start our trek to the settlements of Jhinu passing through Sinuwa and Chhomrong. We will arrive at Jhinu (1,690m) and have our lunch there.

You can also relax at Jhinu danda hot water springs after a long and taxing trekking journey. Thereafter, we have lunch and then continue our trek to arrive at Kyumi after 5-6 hours. We will spend the night at a teahouse in Kyumi.

Day 07: Trek from Nayapul via Siwai, Drive to Pokhara or Kathmandu

Maximum altitude: Kyumi (1690m)

Trek duration: 5-6 hours

Drive duration: 1.5 hours (to Pokhara), 6-7 hours (to Kathmandu)

After having breakfast, we will start our trek to Nayapul from Kyumi via Siwai. You will pass through various scenic landscapes and observe beautiful snow-capped mountains. We will then drive back to Pokhara from Nayapul as our ABC trek in December comes to an end. Also, you can also take a scenic drive to Kathmandu along Prithvi Highway and stay overnight at a hotel.
