How is the Weather of Langtang Trek in Spring?

Spring brings warm weather in the Langtang valley. After the chilling winter, spring brings joy to the nature. Early spring may see some snow falls at higher altitude. However, spring brings stable and colourful weather.

The average maximum temperature of the Langtang Region during March is about 5 degree Celsius. The minimum average temperature marks around 5 degree Celsius at Kyangjin station. The daytime temperature in the lower altitude marks around 10-degree Celsius.

In April, the maximum temperature during days ranges somewhere between 5 degree Celcius to 10 degree Celsius. However the temperature at night and mornings averages to -2 degree Celsius ( at Kyanjin station). Days gets more hotter in lower altitudes after the mid of April.

Langtang Trek Weather and Temperature in May

May is the time when Rhododendron blossoms are at their best. You will be lured by the romantic aroma of numerous wildflowers along the trails. May is the hottest month in the Langtang Valley.

At the Kyangjin station, the maximum daytime reaches around 12 degree Celsius. Likewise, the average minimum temperature there is around zero degree celsius. The temperature is high, around 20 degree celsius in the lower regions.

The trek route is diverse. Some portion of trek involves long climbs and steep descents. Also, walking on the rocky paths are not easy. However, during spring, the trails are dry and less difficult than in monsoon and winter.

March, April & May is a beautiful time to trek. You will be accommodating in the teahouses during the trek. The accommodations are available on the twin-share basis. But, its is always safe to pre-book for the rooms if you are trekking in Spring.

In many tea houses, the rooms are comfortable with attached bathrooms. However, in some tea houses, they have shared toilets. In the lower trekking regions, you will find teahouses frequently. The number of tea houses becomes less as you ascend to the higher elevations.

What are the Tips for Langtang Valley Trek in Spring?

  • Pack lightweight clothes. Pack some warm clothes but not too much.
  • Maintain a steady walk during your hikes. Rushing while hiking, you may feel tired soon.
  • Spring includes most of the summer, ( April and May). Walking under the hot sun means your body dehydrates faster. Drink plenty of water and other liquids. ( juices but not beverages like alcohol)
  • During early and late Spring, you might see few rain. Carrying a waterproof backpack can be helpful.
  • To prevent sunburns and rashes, take high SPF sunscreen creams and powders. You will sweat a lot. It is better to wear quick drying clothes. Wear light hats and scarf too.
  • Make sure, you keep in concern about your personal hygiene and cleanliness.
