Annapurna Circuit Trek

Itinerary of Short Annapurna Circuit Trek 10 Days

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar(760 m): 6 – 7 hours

On the first day of your trek, you will drive towards Besisahar early in the morning. Besisahar is 185 kilometers away from Kathmandu. It will take you around 6 hours to reach Besisahar from Kathmandu.

Besisahar is the gateway and starting point of Annapurna Circuit Trek. On reaching Besisahar, you will stay at one of the lodges for overnight.

Day 2: Besisahar to Chame (2,710m): 4-5 hours

After having your breakfast at Besisahar, you will drive towards Chame. The route to Chame passes through several beautiful villages and majestic mountains.

Day 3: Chame to Pisang (3,300m): 5 – 6 hours

You will officially start your trekking journey today. You will follow the route to deep forest and narrow valley. The day involves crossing several bridges through which you will be able to have to first glance of Paungda Danda rock.

After walking for about 5- 6 hours, you will finally take an uphill climb towards Pisang. Pisang offers you with the spectacular views of the Annapurna range.

Day 4: Pisang to Manang via Nawal: 6 – 7 hours

After exploring Pisang, you will head towards Manang via Nawal today. You will climb uphill towards the Tibetan styled village at Braga. The major attraction of today is the Gompa which is the largest in the district.

On reaching Manang, you will be able to witness Mount Annapurna, Chulu peak, Gangapurna, and many more.

Day 5: Day Hike around Manang

Today is the first day of acclimatization during your Annapurna Circuit Trek. On this day, you will go up to the height of 4600 meters for the excursion. It will take you around 5-6 hours back and forth to explore and return back to Manang.

You can also explore around the Praken Gompa today if you want to. It sits to the north of Manang.

Day 6: Manang to Yak Kharka (4,110m): 3 – 4 hours

Today will be an easy journey towards Yak Kharka from Manang. The trek does not require any steep and high altitude climbs. The stunning views of Mount Annapurna, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, etc will entertain you throughout the journey. You will pass through villages of Tengi and Gunsang. It will take you around 3-4 hours to reach Yak Kharka.

Day 7: Yak Kharka to Thorong High Camp (4,800m): 3 – 4 hours

As you leave for Thorong High Camp, you will be able to see the great Himalayas. You will cross a Kone Khola which will lead you to Churi Ledar and Ledar. You will take a steep uphill climb towards the landslide area. Be aware of the stones falling down from the cliffs! From here, you will take a gentle uphill climb towards Thorung Phedi.

Overnight at Thorung High Camp.

Day 8: Thorong High Camp to Muktinath (3,800m) via Thorong La pass (5416m): 5 – 6 hours. Drive to Jomsom (2700m)

After crossing the high point at Thorung La pass, you will descend towards Muktinath. Muktinath is one of the culturally significant Hindu temples. From here, you will descend towards Kagbeni. The walk to Kagbeni is quite simple and rewarding. You will then take a jeep to Jomsom. Jomsom is a large settlement in the Upper Mustang region. It is famous for cheese and apple pie.

Overnight in Jomsom.

Day 9: Early morning flight to Pokhara (820m)

After exploring the beautiful Muktinath Jomsom, you will fly to Pokhara today. It will take you around 25 minutes to reach Pokhara. The plane passes through Kaligandaki valley with the view of some of the magnificent mountains.

On reaching Pokhara, you will transfer to one of the hotels.

Day 10: Drive to Kathmandu (1320m)

On the last day of your short Annapurna Circuit Trek, you will drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara. It will take you approximately 7 hours to reach Kathmandu from Pokhara. You will have a scenic drive viewing some of the beautiful rivers, mountains, landscapes, and settlements.
