Best Time for Langtang Valley Trek 7 Days

Is Langtang Valley Trek suitable for beginners

Langtang Valley Trek is a wonderful adventure. But what is the right time for it so that I can enjoy it in the best way? Well, you have two seasons that are the fine ones, Autumn & Spring. However, it is possible to do Langtang Valley Trek in Winter or Summer, the two low times for the trek. Let’s unravel each of them for you.

Spring(March, April, and May)

Spring is one of the best times to do Langtang Trek or other treks in Nepal. The weather is in such a good mood during this season. It enters Nepal after Winter’s farwell. The climate around Langtang and Nepal begins to turn warm and moderate.

Throughout Spring, the days in Nepal are sunny, pleasing, and clear. It is a great time to watch the magical views of Langtang Valley. The peaks, like Langtang Lirung, are transparent. Similarly, flower lovers see rhododendron flowers all over the trail.

It has a stable climate. There is no or meager chance of snowfall and showers. A trekker in Langtang Valley makes wonderful memories this season. The weather is perfect.

Autumn(September, October, and November)

Like Spring, Autumn is the best time to trek around Nepal, including in Langtang Valley. The season arrives after the rainy Summer season and makes the weather soothing.

It is a crystal-clear time to watch Nepal’s varied landscapes as Summer’s rainfall bathes the country. As the Monsoon leaves, the weather becomes more stable. The season has low rainfall levels except for the first half of September. As we go ahead, the weather turns more and more favorable.

Autumn is not just ideal for weather reasons. Nepal’s two biggest festivals, Dashain and Tihar, occur in October and November. The other festivals, like Chaath, also fall in the same season. Along with good weather, you will experience good vibes and energy in Autumn.

Winter(December, January, and February)

On the contrary, winter is a low time to be on Langtang Trek’s road. The trekking activity is lower in this season. People seem to avoid the cold weather.

The higher regions of Nepal go through extreme weather. It is high time for snowfall there. With snowfall, the temperature also drops drastically. And it becomes difficult to trek, especially in the high Langtang area.

Likewise, the mountains are also not visible all the time. You might have to wait for the views of the places. While on the trek, you must be warm enough to avoid sickness.

Hence, Winter is chosen by a few hikers who love to walk under cold circumstances. Winter is also a time for the trek if you have the experience and prowess to handle extremes. With less crowd, you will have a serene trip.

Summer(June, July, and August)

Like Winter, Summer is an off time for Langtang Trek. Indeed, it is the quietest time. The Summer or Monsoon is about rainfall; Hence, people, the majority, dodge this season.

Trekking becomes exhilarating in this season. With rain in the lower areas, there is snowfall in the higher places. Likewise, the hiking routes get muddy, slippery, and wet. The chances of landslides are also around the corner.

If you love mountains, Summer may not love you. The clouds block the views often. You have to wait hours or maybe days to get the views. However, the landscapes look ethereal when clear. Also, the trails and teahouses are peaceful. You must have the right team and be ready to bear any weather to trek in Summer.

Difficulty Level of 7 Days Langtang Valley Trek

Detailed Itinerary of 8 Days Langtang Valley Trek

Langtang Valley Trek 7 Days is a short moderate trek. To put it straight, it is not the hardest one. However, like in every journey, this also has challenges. The main challenges are rugged terrain, steep uphills, high altitude, and naive weather.

Therefore, trekkers should come a bit prepared, physically and mentally.

The road of Langtang Valley Trek is around 77 km long. It has ups, downs, and flats. The hardest will be the uphills, where you must climb steep climbs. You will feel exhausted at times if you are not used to trekking. Likewise, the route is rough and wild; you must be watchful while hiking.

As the trek reaches 3500m+, the altitude becomes another obstacle. You must trek slowly and adjust to high altitudes. Otherwise, you might succumb to various difficulties of altitude sickness. The maximum altitude gain is 5033m(Tsergo Ri). Hence, altitude is another thing to look at.

Similarly, the weather of the valley can be another hassle if you are naive to Himalayan weather. Here, the weather in the higher parts is always colder than the lower ones. The temperatures also drop during the night and evening hours. The other foreign and unexpected conditions can be tricky to adjust to.

Overall, 7 Days Langtang Valley Trek is an average trek, neither difficult nor easy. If you have basic fitness, you can embark on this journey. There will be no big troubles. Make sure you have an experienced guide with you.

Food and Accommodation on Langtang Valley Trek

nepali food dal bhat tarkari

The arrangement of food and accommodation on 7 Days Langtang Valley Trek is fine. It is one of the popular trekking trails. There are enough teahouses, lodges, and hotels along the trail. However, the quality of service will be basic due to the remote terrains and no road linkage.

The food is easily manageable. You can enjoy organic and well-cooked food in the tea houses of the trek. These teahouses are there to serve the trekkers. You can expect Local, Chinese, and Continental options.

The most popular options are Dal Bhat( Rice, Lentil, Pickle, and Vegetable set), Noodles, pasta, Dumplings, Sandwiches, Tibetan Bread, etc. You can also get hot and cold beverages like tea, coffee, energy drinks, and cold drinks.

Likewise, accommodation is also easily available on the trek. As said earlier, there are tea houses and lodges to provide accommodation. The tea houses provide comfortable but basic rooms to trekkers. You will have blankets, pillows, and mattresses in your room. The attached bathroom options may or may not be available.

Overall, food and accommodation are available on the trek. The tea houses are enough to house visitors. However, the good ones can fill out in peak seasons like Autumn and Spring. We have to make early bookings in such instances to avoid accommodation hassles.
