The Exhilarating Three Passes of the Everest Region

Everest Three High Passes Trek with Renjo Pass Everest Makalu Lhotse Nuptse

All three passes in the Everest region are above 5000 meters. Crossing these high passes can be strenuous. To cross the high passes safely, endurance and proper acclimatization are needed.

Kong Ma La Pass

Kongma La Pass (5,535 m) is the highest of the three passes. Crossing this pass requires considerable physical effort. The descent can be equally as challenging especially because of icy conditions and the loose gravel which makes the surface slippery.

The high altitude and long climb to the top mean that the trekkers must be physically fit to handle the long climb. It is not as technical as Cho La Pass but it is quite challenging because of its elevation.

Cho La Pass

Cho La Pass (5,420 m) is considered as the technically most difficult of the three passes. This is because it involves crossing a glacier. In addition, the paths are also steep and rugged, adding to the difficulty.

Crossing the glacier requires effort and extreme caution. For smooth crossing, trekkers will need microspikes. While Cho La crossing is challenging, because of the section of rocky, rugged and icy terrain, the rewards are exceptional. You will get to see stunning views of the snowy mountains and feel a sense of accomplishment, making this crossing truly memorable.

Renjo La Pass

Renjo La Pass (5,360 m) is the easiest of the three high passes from a technical point of view. However, it also presents certain challenges. The route leading to the pass does not involve as much glacier walking as the other passes, but requires navigating the rocky terrain, moraine, and snowy ridges.

Everest Three Pass Trek with Exciting Nepal Treks

We booked our Everest Three Pass trek with Exciting Nepal Treks. We liked the communication with Subash from the company as well as price that he offered. The Service was an excellent from Airport pick to final drop. A hotel was provided for two nights before the trip so that was easier for us. We had flight from Ramechap to Lukla that we had to drive for more of less 4 hours, a private car was arranged so that was not that much difficult. We had our guide Suman from Kathmandu and Porter Milan from Lukla. We had two rest days, one in Lukla and one in Dingboche. We did khongma-la first and than after the base camp, The pass of Khongma-la was challenging and tuff. We found after that pass the Gorekshep and the base cam was not that much difficult however the Cho-la pass was also not that much easy but the Renjo-la was fie for was. Guide Suman always motivated us during the trek, Taking care a lot of our food and hotel as well as water. Most of the lodges, the tea houses were basic but was nice and clean.

Suman is a best guide I guess for the Everest Base Camp Trek That we meat different trekkers from many country and different guide of them, Due to the bad weather our flight was cancel for a day but Subash managed room in a Helicopter to Kathmandu directly with very reasonable cost. That was amazing part. Thank you Subash , Sunam , Milan for your excellent service and sure I will be joining our Kanachanjunga trek near future.

Surviving the Three Passes in Everest

Are you alright? I heard a voice at a distant. The truth is, I was not okay. The altitude had already hit me, and I had to descend as quickly as possible. Then Shambhu grabbed my hand and started descending with me. Shambhu was our trekking guide.

It happened when I was trying to climb Kongma La pass, first of the three passes in the Everest region. Shambhu helped a lot, and I was able to complete this trek.

Exciting Nepal did an excellent job in organizing this memorable trip for me and my wife back in October. There were times when I wanted to quit walking, but I had to conquer the three passes. Surprisingly, my wife was absolutely fine. And, I could not have done it without her.

There is no doubt to the fact that the three passes trek in Nepal is one of the hardest treks in the world. It challenged me physically and mentally. But with the help of my wife and shambhu, I was able to complete this beautiful trek.

EBC Three Passes

I booked the Everest Basecamp Three Passes hike with Exciting Nepal. Before the booking, the agency responded quickly to all questions and this did not change after the booking. Exciting Nepal also managed to get me on a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla instead of Ramechhap, which makes a huge difference in terms of comfort. Unfortunately, I encountered the infamous Lukla flight problems. Luckily, the office was on top of it when I requested a helicopter flight instead and did its utmost to get me to Lukla as soon as possible. On the way back, it was no problem to change my flight date and everything was settled in just two hours.

In countries like Nepal, one cannot expect everything to go ahead as planned. What it takes to make your journey a success is a professional agency that deals with problems promptly and accurately on your behalf. Exciting Nepal can be trusted with this task! EBC Three Passes
