About the Route
Like the popular EBC trek, the Everest Base Camp Luxury Lodge Trek also commences with a short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, from where the trek officially begins. A day before the flight, you will have a sightseeing tour of the essential sites of the Kathmandu valley on a private vehicle just designated for you.
On landing at Lukla, we will begin the trek up to Phakding for the night. The following day we venture to the well-famed Namche Bazaar, famous for being known as the gateway to numerous treks in the Khumbu region. It is also the central hub of business for the Sherpas due to the high intensity of tourists during the peak seasons.
From Namche, the trail takes us past the settlements of Tengboche which features the well-known Tengboche monastery. Further, the trail continues along with the villages of Pangboche, Dingboche, and Lobuche to Gorak Shep.
Gorak Shep is the furthest settlement of humanity around the Everest region. Before the actual base camp existed, Gorak Shep used to serve as the official Base Camp for Mt Everest. From Gorak Shep, our journey takes us to the foot of the gigantic Mt Everest and Kalapatthar. Kala Patthar is quite known for its incredible 360-degree panoramic view of the Mahalangur Himalayan Range. From Kala Patthar, we board the helicopter back home concluding our fantastic ten-day Ultimate Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek.
Best Time For The Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek
Due to its proximity to the Himalayas, the Khumbu region typically has unpredictable weather that can change in the blink of an eye. Thus it is best to opt for it during the favorable seasons when the climate is more appropriate, which reduces potential risks. Also during these times, the skies are more apparent contributing to a sharper and more precise view of the snow-clad mountains.
The best time to opt for the Ultimate Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek is during the spring and autumn season which lei around March-May and September-November respectively.
Since these are the post-monsoon and pre-monsoon seasons, there is very little chance of rainfall eliminating the chances of unwanted delays and slippery trails.
Difficulty Of The Luxury Everest Base Camp Luxury Lodge Trek
The Everest Base Camp Luxury Lodge Trek is moderately difficult, and if you’re sound in health and endurance you can opt for it! Since the Ultimate Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek eliminates the additional days of walking back, it saves you a lot of physical stamina and endurance which makes the trek much more comfortable than the conventional EBC trek.
However, you do require some good physical stamina and endurance as you need to walk for approximately 4-5 hours every day along rocky and rugged trails. Although the paths are mostly easy, there are occasional steep ascents and descents which add complexity to the trails.
Another issue that can arise is altitude sickness. Since we will be traveling mostly above the 3000m mark, altitude sickness is a real possibility here! Thus it is essential to acclimatize yourself properly during the climb to avoid falling prey to altitude sickness. Carrying Diamox and Ibuprofen tablets can also help speed acclimatization.
However, if you still feel the signs of altitude sickness despite taking all the preventive measures, it is best to alert your guide who will take the necessary actions accordingly.
